Tell us about your church’s skills acquisition and empowerment programme:

We were supporting widows and orphans and we discovered that what we were doing was not having the desired impact on their lives. Then, there was a lady I gave #15,000 and a chest freezer about a year ago. After five months this lady made over #100,000 and bought a parcel of land to build a house. So, we decided to package a special event where people are empowered through skills acquisition training. Instructors and facilitators, who have made mark in their various fields, are invited to teach the people – widows, orphans, graduates and others – how to start their own business through learning skills. Now, we have a plan to build a school where Nigerians will acquire skills and be given financial support. We will also give scholarships to people who want to go further with their education in higher institution in the country.
